The astronomic timer functionality allows you to set to each day’s sunrise/sunset times based on geographic location by setting the astronomic zones. I purchased the EWZ201C to control exterior lights on a single circuit. I wanted the lights on between 6:45 am and 9 pm, but not while the sun is up. While that sounds easy, it took some tinkering to get to a good solution. The challenge is that “on at sunset” and “off at sunrise” are events, and don’t override other timed events. That’s fine for most of the year, but when the sun rises before 6:45 am, the “off at sunrise” event would trigger BEFORE “on at 6:45 am”, which would leave the lights on all day.I was initially able to work around this with a carefully crafted holiday schedule, all in single-channel mode. Then I realized that two-channel mode would make everything easy: I simply had to wire the switches for the two channels in series. With that change, I programmed channel 2 to be on from dusk to dawn, then programmed channel 1 to be on from 6:45 am to 9 pm. Only when both conditions are true do both switches close, turning on the lights. So, the EWZ201C works well, and two-channel support proved extremely helpful even to control a single circuit.
